Quality of Life Day: Frederick’s Fun Creative Side

Quality of Life

Lights, camera…. recreation!

Photos by Mary Kate McKenna, LFC Class of 2015

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and we think you’ll agree that our class thoroughly enjoyed their time spent at LFC’s Quality of Life Day. A day spent in theaters, art galleries and parks… now who wouldn’t enjoy that?

The day kicked off at the Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) where LFC members learned about the creative economy in Frederick and got to participate in some fun (and wacky) actor’s warm ups with Julie Herber.

William Cochran, the incredibly talented mural artist, talked with class members about The Community Bridge on Carroll Creek. We toured “the Jewel of Frederick” otherwise known as the Weinberg Center. Snakes (!) not to mention turtles and lizards and spiders were on display at Fountain Rock Park & Nature Center in Walkersville. Owner Dave McGuire of McGuire Fine Art Gallery shared his experiences in the artistic community of Frederick with class members. At the Griffin Art Center, panelists Eduardo Sanchez and Justin Kiska share their experiences on making a living as an artist.
