Connections are made every day at the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, but none so significant to me as the partnership formed between Stauffer Funeral Home and the Captain John Ryan Dennison Memorial Fund. While attending a Generation Connect event in November, Jonathan Sanderson was networking and educating young professionals about the Captain John Ryan Dennison Memorial Fund. That very evening, the fund was selected as the 2014 beneficiary of Generation Connect. The charity supports the design, construction, and maintenance of a memorial at Urbana Park that will honor Captain John Ryan Dennison and other Frederick County residents who lost their lives in the wars on terrorism.

After the general event announcements and a short presentation by Jonathan, something incredibly special happened: Stauffer Funeral Home found a way to help. George D. Stauffer II set up a meeting with Jonathan and has since agreed to acquire the memorial’s granite material at cost! This generous donation pushed the project forward spectacularly; the memorial now has the funding ready ahead of schedule and can commence construction. At Generation Connect events throughout the 2014 fiscal year, additional funds will be raised to complete and maintain the memorial. If you’d like to help Generation Connect continue to make a difference for the Captain John Ryan Dennison Memorial Fund, you can join other young professionals at Gen Connect events this spring and summer. Click here to follow the memorial’s progress.
