County Executive: Response Five

Jan Gardner (Democratic)

Yes, I agree with this statement. Dr. Alban is currently developing a comprehensive technology plan for Frederick County Public Schools. As County Executive, I will partner with the Superintendent and Board of Education to defined shared outcomes we want to achieve over the next 4 years – in terms of student outcomes as well as school technology. While most schools will soon have wireless capability and a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) pilot program is in progress, many schools have outdated technology. I will restore a stable annual level of funding for technology so better planning and implementation can happen.

Blaine R. Young (Republican)

I am very proud of our school system as we rank No. 1 in the state and my two sons currently attend Frederick County Public Schools.

I am proud to say we have increased funding for education by over $16.7 million. We invested $4.7 million in improved technology in our schools. This has enabled the school system to reach the goal of having every school equipped with wireless Internet. Online learning enables our children to have the skills needed to succeed in the workforce.
