2014 Elections: As our first County Executive

CE Q1

CE Q1

Jan Gardner (Democratic)

Within the first 100 days of my term as County Executive, I will make sure Frederick County joins the “Big 7” County Executive group effectively turning it into the “Big 8”. The County Executives meet regularly to solve mutual challenges and advance legislative initiatives with state leadership. As a result of my experience as President of the Maryland Association of Counties and State Director for Senator Mikulski, I already have strong working relationships with other county officials, state leadership, and our federal delegation. I will leverage these relationships to obtain our fair share of funding for roads, schools, and services.

Blaine R. Young (Republican)

For the last four years as the President of the Board of County Commissioners, I have traveled to Annapolis on a regular basis to engage our Frederick County delegation. As a result we have been very successful in enacting needed legislation for the County. The previous Board, under Jan Gardner had seriously harmed the relationship with Frederick County lawmakers at the state and local level. I am proud to say we have repaired those relationships and our local, county, state, and federal delegations are now able to work together for the benefit of Frederick County.
